Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Substation is a 132kV electrical substation to power the cross-border transport hub on the artificial island adjacent to the Hong Kong International Airport. The sustainable development elements are fully incorporated into the planning, design, construction and operation of this substation project. The substation has become the first substation in Hong Kong to achieve a Provisional Platinum rating under BEAM Plus presented by Hong Kong Green Building Council.
The substation design blends in with the surrounding environment. More than 30% of the surface area of the building is covered with greenery features.
Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology is employed to facilitate works in different project lifecycle stages, such as various engineering analysis, coordination, save and retrieval of information.
An underground tank is provided for recycling of rain water. About 60% of potable water consumption can be reduced.
